Felt Hat Workshop with Jasmin Zorlu in Istanbul

We had American hat designer Jasmin Zorlu join us for a 1 day hat making workshop.
I think she now better appreciates the work to make felt caps. We played around with the blocking...I call it the acorn squash series.......

Nice day for indigo

Today we revisited the dyepot of indigo with new fabric and some overdyeing. It is so hard to resist as it is amazing to watch the new colors revieled after each dip. The dyepot itself is quite alluring!

Felt and Embroidery

Here are some samples of old embroidery on felt from Turkey. It is interesting to see where the thread has worn away, showing the stiff paper underneath which was used to make the stitching mre prominent. The other photos are of felt work we did using old embroidery as the model for the design.
